I can't tell you anything about the artist Е. А. Жилин, but the building is Maria Volkonskaya's house. Well - "then" it was very picturesque, and now it's very impressive, and a beautiful museum!

I just saw that we still haven't posted "real" Baikal-pictures.

Tijdens onze tocht over het ijs van het Baikalmeer sliepen we wel op het land. De toilet was echter buitenshuis. Op zich geen probleem, maar bij 30 graden onder nul moet je je wel voorbereiden voordat je naar het toilet gaat!

Maandag 13:05 vertrek uit Moskou, vrijdag 09:38 aankomst in Irkutsk, na 5193 km gereden te hebben waarbij de trein bij 80 stations is gestopt. Soms maar 2 minuten, een enkele keer wat langer:
In Tyumen zelfs ruim een uur, maar dat was midden in de nacht.
