В Сибире...

Медведь встречает в лесу человека с рюкзаком.
- Ты кто какой?
- Я турист.
- Ну, турист - это я, а ты - ЗАВТРАК ТУРИСТА.

Учебник
A real boost to learn the language: a (children's) book about a passion. This one is in Ukrainian, but that's almost Russian (well, kind of...)
I will at least understand the pictures!
And now look below (label: Photography) at the post В Кассете.
The first thing I find is... how to load the cassette. Wòw!
And my first camera on the front. Yes, I always tell that I still own one, alas not the original bakelite one, and no, this is not me, but I can see this мальчик felt just like I did, a lifetime ago.

Progress...
I'm not sure I'll really need the word червяками in Siberia, but here is where I am now. Hopefully, in a few months, maybe some Tolstoy?
Why Tolstoy? Because he once said to depressed Rachmaninow: "Do you really think people need that kind of music?" Honest man!

Linguistic
Isn't this strange: the word UKPA means calf (from your leg), ànd caviar. I have no idea why that is and in fact I should: because in Dutch the word "kuit" means calf, and caviar. (And that is not in E, Fr, D, I and so on...)

Russian Language
I am probably the laziest man in town. I never did like studying or practising (ask my teachers). When I hàve to learn something I surround myself with "relating objects" and hope for the best (telepathy...)
When in Siberia do like... or was that Rome? Anyway, at the moment I have a sixty years old grammar, a knyga dlya pyervowo styenya, Zolotaya Ryga (nice! kind of Tilsitter Edam), caviar of course, I love that, and lots of vodka (I don't know whether that really helps but it makes me feel as if I speak fluently Russian...)

And I read a poem of Mayakovsky, proud, clear (and short).
Good man. you should google him.
